What is the opportunity?

The Senior Engineer will report to the Lead Engineer, of Water Mission Kenya (WMK). The position entails providing technical guidance and support to Water Mission Kenya Engineers and Technicians following the Water Mission Kenya Country Program’s established standards and procedures.

This is a full-time position that requires residency in Makueni, Kenya. The position is located in Makueni and will require frequent travels to far locations in the region.

A successful Senior Engineer will:

General Responsibilities:

• Lead and participate in biblically based staff devotions.

Other Responsibilities:
• Maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, donors, volunteers, and the public.
• Understand, support, and nurture the Vision, Mission, and Core values of Water Mission.
• Conduct engineering field work and design according to established engineering principles and standards to a high degree of excellence and dependable accuracy.
• Provide guidance to the technical team, oversight, review and assistance for technicians, volunteers, and other engineers to ensure quality of output and adherence to established standards.
• Promote, encourage, and model Water Mission’s mission, vision, and values to the technical team members.
• Help train and facilitate a culture of capacity building for team members.
• Perform Engineering tasks including water hydraulic design, solar and electrical design, and development of plans, specifications, and structural drawings.
• Preparation of BOQsbased on approved drawings and specifications for all water supply and sanitation infrastructures to be implemented in the targeted areas.
• Provide onsite site visits for the purpose of quality control and instruction of field engineers and technicians in support of approved projects.
• Champion and ensure that WMT QA/QC (Quality Assurance/Quality Control standards and procedures) is upheld by the technical team.
• Provide technical guidance on technical and systems innovation that seeks to further our mission.
• Layout and design of water systems including source, pumping, treatment, storage and distribution.
• Ensure that all work, including that of the Engineer, is reviewed by another engineer as designated.
• Perform assessments in communities, including water quality analysis and quantity testing, survey measurements and other aspects as may be required.
• Timely Project reporting, including monthly report, Assessment report, follow up report with accompanied photographs as per specific assignment guideline.
• Comply with all the existing and approved policies and procedures.
• Provide disaster response support and work in other countries as needed.
• Other tasks as may be assigned.

What is required?
• Alignment with Water Mission’s Statement of Faith and core values of Love, Excellence, and Integrity.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering – Civil, Chemical, or Mechanical are preferred.
• Minimum experience of at least 7 years in similar project work.
• Registration as a professional engineer in Kenya.
T3 EPRA License is a great advantage.
• Driver’s license.
• Advanced skills with office computer (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and drafting and modeling programs (AutoCAD, EPANET, PowerCADD, SolidWorks, ProE).
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills (English).
• Excellent analytical skills, process design skills and project planning and management skills.
• A level of impeccable integrity and stewardship that demonstrates to those who invest in Water Mission Kenya a sense of security and trust that their gifts are well used and invested.
• Must be standards and detail-oriented with ability to plan ahead.
• A strong work ethic.
• Ability and willingness to travel for fieldwork.

Job Overview/Summary:

We are looking for a full-time HRIS Analyst II who will enhance and maintain the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) platforms used by our Global HR team. The main focus for this role will be supporting the Workday system.

The successful candidate will also need to support Cornerstone (ATS) and integrations to downstream systems (benefits, payroll (ADP), internal IRC systems & third-party vendors. The Analyst will work with other HRIS Analysts, HR management, IT colleagues and other IRC internal groups to improve processes and procedures for maintenance of HRIS systems.

This position requires solid organizational and analytical skills, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail. Strong proficiency in Human Resources Information System (Workday preferred) and MS Office, especially Excel and database management (i.e; MS-Access), is required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assume ownership of the functional design process for HR functional area, leveraging existing business processes, systems configuration set-up, applicable Integrations between Workday, third party vendors and internal IRC applications.

• Gather requirements from HR and non-HR partners

• Mapping of data elements (as needed)

• Liaise with PM teams from HR/IT/Finance

• Test and document any modifications for the functional areas

• Support Workday and Cornerstone upgrades for HR functions, by ensuring Integrations, Business Processes, configurations set-up, security are tested thoroughly.

• Collaborate with HRIS colleagues to proactively, identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency within the IRC’s current Workday usage, including cross-functional considerations

• Produce canned and customized reports from Workday and Cornerstone

• Perform otherspecial projects as needed

Job Requirements:

• 4+ years previous experience maintaining & configuring data in an HRIS systems (Workday, Cornerstone, PeopleSoft, or SAP)

• Basic understanding of HR practices in Compensation, Recruiting, Benefits, EEO, Data Security and HIPAA

• Demonstrated ability to work professionally and discreetly with extremely confidential information

• Experience working with large datasets, in-depth understanding of data relationships, data cleansing practices

• Intermediate understanding of relationship databases concepts

• Exceptional problem-solving skills with attention to detail, excellent time management and organizational skills, project management ability, and the ability to prioritize work

• Excellent analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting abilities; with strong data analysis acumen competence, and focus on accuracy and attention to detail

• Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and in a team environment

• Excellent customer service, communication (both written and verbal), and cross-group collaboration skills required

• Flexibility in daily schedule, and ability to understand and react quickly to changing priorities

• Experience of working in a globally distributed environment a plus

• Experience in working with a ticketing system a plus

• Basic understanding and interest in adopting an Agile development methodology while performing their tasks

• Truly excellent interpersonal skills; ability to effectively listen to and liaise with colleagues on all levels in a global, distributed, multicultural, detail-oriented environment

Preferred Additional Qualifications

• Experience with an international nonprofit in the delivery of systems across varying IT infrastructure and low/intermittent bandwidth scenarios

• Experience with data migration and systems integration

• Posting payments and receipt vouchers in the cashbooks, balancing and ruling of the cashbook on dailybasis;
• Arranging for withdrawal of cash for office use and ensuring safety of the same at all times;
• Preparing Bank Reconciliation Statements, that is, reconcile the balances as per Bank Statements with the closing balances as per the Cashbook as at the end of each month and bring out the reconciling items as per the prescribed template;
• Analyzing of below line Accounts and other routine accounting jobs;
• Assisting with the preparation of financial statements in accordance with the cash basis of accounting under international Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) and Car and Mortgage loans scheme under accrual basis; and
• Responsible for safe custody of Government records and asset.
